After decades of uncontrolled timber exploitation and the associated forest loss, Ghana is currently in the process of introducing a sustainable forestry and timber industry. The core of the project is the establishment of an accredited testing laboratory for wood products and furniture at the Forestry Research Institute of Ghana FORIG and the creation of a national technical committee to develop standards and norms.
