Skills and capacity development

CDC supports training initiatives at all levels, from informal provision through apprenticeships to tertiary qualifications and continuing education. With its roots in tertiary education and close links with the Swiss VET sector, the CDC has expertise in co-developing and contextualizing educational initiatives.

Sustainable infrastructure & reconstruction

The CDC provides expertise for protection against extreme natural events as well as for sustainable reconstruction following natural disasters and conflicts within the framework of international cooperation projects.

Value chains and access to markets

CDC has solid expertise in developing business models and value chains, including financing solutions that strengthen the participation and economic resilience of smallholder farmers.

CDC is a founding member of the Swiss Sustainable Coffee Platform (www.sscp.org)

Future-ready building materials and circular construction

The construction sector is a major source of global CO₂ emissions. Low- and middle-income countries, in particular, have significant potential to  strengthen local value chains and generate economic benefits through the use of local, renewable materials and circular construction methods.

CDC Services

The CDC provides a wide range of services to both private and public clients. As an intermediary, the CDC uses its networks and close links with educational and research institutions and the private sector to provide expertise and implementation capacity.

Education and Training

For our partners, we develop tailor-made training programs in Switzerland, in the countries of intervention or virtually. Furthermore, we offer exciting internships and organize exclusive study and exposure trips ‘on demand’.

Policy advice and strategy development

We support and guide policymakers in strategic processes and the development of thematic programmes based on sound needs assessments.

Executive support and coaching

We provide advice, coaching and best practice to management and teaching staff of higher education institutions. This includes infrastructure planning, curriculum development and international networking.

Project planning and implementation support

We support initiatives at all stages, from project definition and feasibility studies, through planning workshop facilitation and project implementation, to the development and application of monitoring and performance measurement approaches.

Performance assessment and management

On behalf of funding agencies and foundations, we carry out professional project evaluations and impact audits, and provide on-site support to project and programme managers in planning and implementing improvements.
