Wood as a resource plays an important role in the sustainable development of Gabon. This includes not only sustainable cultivation, controlled harvesting and sale, but also local processing and manufacture of wood-based materials and products. As part of this initiative, plans have been developed for the construction of a modern woodworking school.
Selected students from Gabon were able to complete a master’s degree in wood technology as part of the project. In addition, an executive master’s programme for Gabonese teachers has been implemented to strengthen both their technical and didactic skills.
